Testimonials

We take great satisfaction from ensuring we deliver outstanding and quality workmanship to each and every job we undertake. The testimonials we have received over the years are testament to the work we deliver for all our customers, you can read a number of these below:

"Excellent service in overhauling my Volkswagen Polo Mk2 Solex carb, and very helpful in getting it set up."

Mr D Stepney

"Having acquired a very rare Fiat-OSCA 1500-S Pininfarina Spider (less than 10 examples in the UK), which had recently been restored but still had a long list of snagging and teething problems that needed sorting out, after some research I decided to entrust the work to David and Aaron at Exeter Engineering. I could not possibly have made a better decision. David visited my home to discuss all the required work at length, and collected the car in their enclosed trailer. I cannot fault the work carried out by David and Aaron and their team - their knowledge, skills, enthusiasm and attention to detail are all I could have hoped for, and in fact I would say have never been bettered in my 37 years of classic car ownership. My car was checked over very thoroughly and many different kinds of issues were sorted, some of which required some ingenuity and professional skills in order to provide the ideal solution. When the car was returned to me it was transformed and was running smoothly and quietly with all the annoying problems fully sorted, and it was clear that the car had been handled with great care at all times. I’ll not hesitate to entrust further work to Exeter Engineering when required, however complex."

Mr E Stratton

"I really cannot fault the resourcefulness, effort and dedication to get the engine of my MGA up and running. Where others would have thrown the towel in and taken the easy route out Exeter Engineering persevered to implement my requested non-standard engine modification. Whether they would undertake it again is a different question (!) but I'm very happy."

Mr D Docherty

Exeter Engineering have done a great job keeping my 1933 Riley Lynx on the road. After they did work on the head a couple of years ago I have been back this year to have the carbs rebuilt; the car now goes better than ever. An excellent service from a reliable, competent team."

Mr M Measures

As a result of a positive report by a fellow enthusiast published in the Crash Box and Classic Car Club magazine I contacted Exeter Engineering Solutions regarding a long-standing fault in the power-train of my 1932 J2 MG. From the moment of contact I received the most professional and helpful service from Exeter Engineering staff I have ever received in my ownership of pre-war cars. The reason why this was, for me, such a positive experience was because the car was initially visited at my home, and I was kept regularly informed each step of the way both when visiting the car and by regular email. I really felt I was part of the repair team. The repairs needed (from the overhead camshaft to the gear box including the flywheel) were undertaken with precision and at reasonable cost. On completion the car is running better than it has done during most of the 34 years of my ownership. While a thorough professional job was expected from these experts it was their undoubted enthusiasm which gives them added status.

I have no hesitation in recommending Exeter Engineering Solutions to those caring for cars who find a repair job needing skills beyond their own.

Mr B Snowden

“Exeter Engineering have proved invaluable in my rebuilding of my 1933 Austin Seven Special. All those jobs I have not had the competence or confidence to do myself, from removing a stuck gear to building an exhaust system, sorting engine problems, to completely wiring the car, have been done with sound advice, friendly professionalism and great engineering skill.

Mr N Borst-Smith

“I have entrusted my classic MG’s to David & Aaron since being introduced to them some 3 years ago. I have been impressed and encouraged with their obvious passion and enthusiasm for classic vehicles and I am delighted with the personal service and standard of work that they have carried out for me. It is reassuring to know that Classic Vehicle owners have access to individuals like David and Aaron who not only share their interest and passion but have the knowledge and skills to help keep their treasured vehicles in top condition to be both used and enjoyed.”

Mr B Tucker

“I have been using the expertise and services of the team at Exeter Engineering for quite some time now for the restoration, recommissioning and servicing of many of my classic cars. I’m happy to say that I am extremely satisfied with the results from the team and it’s not only the results but it’s their method of approach to the rebuilding and preservation of specific original units which may be deemed un-important by many other classic car restorers.

I will be continuing to use Exeter Engineering for future work. I highly recommend this very professional and knowledgeable firm to anyone owning a classic vehicle wishing to have work carried out whether it be a service , a recommission or a full nut and bolt restoration.”

Mr K Gilroy

"I had a feeling from the outset after meeting with Dave and Aaron of Exeter Engineering at Powderham Classic Car Show 2017 that I was speaking to two very knowledgeable people within the classic car field, for a young couple of lads who look as if they are just out of their nappies. They certainly know their stuff and have the equipment to refurb any car or bike they put their hands to. I have just used them for the refurbishment of my carburettors on a Jaguar 240 year 1968 and a new power steering pump rebuild along with a rack rebuild. I have got to say that I’m very impressed with the work carried out, the carbs and manifold look brand new with new carb kit and gaskets now in place. The power steering pump is now obsolete, so after hunting around Dave found the internals were still being manufactured for the American market. A new pump was ordered and the innards were removed, to be used in the Jag power steering pump.

A couple of lads in the classic car restoration market are going to go a long way if they keep up with this integrity and professionalism in looking out for the customer.

Top work chaps”

Mr P Haste

"I have a 1987 Mercedes 300 SL which needed some TLC,  I met Exeter Engineering at their stand at Bath & West motoring show. After a detailed inspection the work turned into a complete overhaul, including rust treatment, replacement of many parts and a complete respray. Although the work took longer than anticipated, due to difficulty in obtaining parts, Exeter Engineering kept me up to date throughout the project. I am delighted with the outcome. The signal red looks stunning and complements the cream leather interior, the underside has been carefully treated and even the chrome has a new lease of life."

Mr J Fowl

"I don't know if any classic car enthusiasts happened to see my Austin Healey Frogeyed Sprite Mark 1 at Powderham Classic Car Show last year? This car is now nigh on perfect inside and out and has received huge admiration wherever it has been displayed. It has been superbly restored by Exeter Engineering who are based in Pennymoor, Devon. Their care and attention to detail is second to none and I am proud to say that they are now undertaking another project for me, a BMW tii Lux ... a rare car indeed."

Mrs J Wakefield

"An excellent job from 2 enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and helpful engineers. The work carried out was good value, on time, excellent quality and included advice and suggestions which proved most useful. Highly recommended." Wiring and partial retrimming of MG TA.
